Model of Oklahoma Community School HouseOn Saturday September 27, 2003 the Oklahoma Community celebrated the dedication of its second Historic Landmark for a school house built in 1880. It was rebuilt in 1923, burned and again rebuilt in 1930, then continued to operate through 1944. This Landmark recognizes the generations and continuity of the local community families, and their respect for the education of their children.

The event began at 10 a.m. indoors with many stories shared by fomer students of the school and by local residents. The plaque was unveiled outdoors on a lovely day following the Flag ceremony.The attendees returned indoors where a delicious BBQ luncheon was served by The Rib Tickler restaurant of Tomball.

Two web sites were created to celebrate the Historic Landmarks and present information which the Community wishes to share : http://www.okcommtx.us and http://www.okcommtx.com. Only the .com site survives today. This site provides photos of the event by Richard Boswell.

The Oklhoma Community's first Historic Landmark was placed in 2001 and honors the early settlers who are buried in the local cementary which has been maintained to a park like condition by local residents. In particular, Mr. Carraway (92 years old) has contributed many of his retirement hours in the grooming and care of the landscape.
